Only use them in an emergency, when you can't get a snake to eat anything else. They can get hooked on ASF or Gerbils. I know sometimes that an ASF or Gerbil will get a snake back in eating mode, but they can get hooked too. I have hundreds of them, I only use them for het pied females that had quit eating shortly before breeding season.

You finally broke down with your het pieds? That's what I feed all my het pieds as well. Are you having any better luck this season on the pieds?

Trying. So far, I have not tried - waiting for the babies to grow.

You may want to use white pine shavings as cedar oil is not good for the snakes.Terry

Cedar isn't the best for the rodents either....

yes, have to agree here, don't use the pine/cedar mix shavings, instead use all pine or better yet aspen shavings for your rodents.

Cedar is bad for rodents as it acts like a slow poison, shortens their life span considerably. It is also bad for the snakes that eat the rodents housed on cedar. As there is no cost difference between regular pine shavings or kiln dried pine shavings, you are better off using that, than the mixed type.
