Humid Hide???

Can you keep humid hide abover a heat stone for warmth??? Or should the humid hide be cooler???

If your talking about a hot rock, you SHOULD NOT USE A HOT ROCK. They tend to overheat and can cause serious burns and as for the humid hide, it should be on the warm side of the tank. I suggest you get rid of the hot rock and get a UTH.

first of: if you mean a heat rock then GET RID OF IT. heat rocks have been known to cause nasty burns on reptiles since they do not have a temp control device and just heat up to very high temps. get rid of the heat rock, and instead use a reptile UTH (undertank heater) attached to a thermostat or rheostat to heat the tank. and yes, the humid hide needs to be on the warm side of the tank to generate proper humidity.

There are now heat rocks with tempurature controls on them. My leo has one, and uses it as he likes, he is smart enough to use it when he is cold, and get off of it when he gets warm! Yeah, just thought I would put that out.
