Ah! a pippie!!!

nodaksnakelover Jun 04, 2008 03:13 PM

I've been eyeing this clutch several times a day for over a week now. Watching the eggs dimple more and more each day. And thinking to myself...come on now...HATCH! Well this afternoon I finally get some action! I found this little fellow sticking his head out into the world. Enjoy the pics! Northern Pine snake out of Big Girl, my eight year old seven foot monster that is puppy dog tame!

My wife and daughter greet the new arrival...

his mother...

and father of this clutch...

Both the snake hatching out and the pic with your daughter and wife in it. Everybody loves a baby!
My girlfriend's daughter (when she was 7) was very dubious of me because I have snakes. I had a ball python clutch hatching, so I took it over so they could see. No fear at all, they were all named right away. She's still nervous about big snakes but loves to see the "babies".
Thanks for posting!

Russ,
Congrats on the new babies. Nice to see pics of the family as well. Can't wait to see the entire clutch. Looking forward to getting a pair.

Take care

Hey Jeff!
here's a few pics of the first two hatchlings! That one sure has a temper! But then...so did her mom as a baby and now she's the most tame of my Pinesnake group! Anyhow, I'm very happy with baby number two.

The first baby is one that was trailing a bit of umbilical whatever and so I put him in a deli cup for the first day and he dropped it and closed up nicely. Three out, and four more to go with this clutch. I'll let everyone shed and then post pics of the whole group. See ya in Tinley!

Second Northern Pine clutch is beginning to dimple as of last night. So it can't be long! Just think how big these kids will be by October! That is the thing that got me at a show I did a few years back. Kept having this corn snake guy coming by my table and shaking his head. And finally I realized he didn't believe my labeling of my pines. He didn't believe my baby pines were from this year, or that my yearling was only a year old... hee hee hee! Just look how big they are at hatchling! He was wrongly thinking they come out closer to corn snake size!

They come out ready to tackle hopper mice and kick it up to weanling not long after! I always start mine out on fuzzies though. I try to grow my pines slowly so I don't have any regurge problems.

Excellent pics Russ. Looking forward to seeing them all. What else will you be hatching this year?

Take care,
Jeff Port

well, it looks like I might be hatching out some black pines... and oodles of cornsnakes but I don't know if or how many of those I'll be bringing with. I'll know more after they hatch and I consider what the market is doing. I mean really, how many cornsnakes can a guy sell at a show? I sure found that out the hard way last year! Had smokin hot Okeetees that went nowhere but back home with me! Even those nice candy canes I had at the table didn't budge! And I fear with the way things are economically...I figure it will be worse this year. But I'm still going to attend the show. Already got my room reserved and everything. Keep in touch!
