Chronology of the pearls....

rainbowsrus Jun 04, 2008 06:49 PM

Recent discussion on the pearls and how they evolve over time got me thinking. So, I put together a sample of pics on each one. To keep it straight, I'll post each one seperately...

Dave,
...Really interesting variations in the patterns. I think many of them are going to become more colorful over the next year but this one has that look like some of the possibly anerythristic lines of BRBs.

Those Pearls just blow me away, but Baroque and Apricot have to be my favorites. Are you planning on pairing the two?

i agree Baroque and Apricot are this best looking but that Biwa is turning into quite the looker!!

i think you need to get some of Bam-Bam's color into that line for sure!!

what a great idea, showing them out like that. The change is massive on some, and quite sutble on others.

do you have any ideas of what you will breed them too? will you breed to each other first generation to see what comes of that? or get straight into your high colour x pearl?

i think for mine, main aim will be to work out if anything is het for hypo, but that kinda kills 2 birds with one stone anyway. As for crossing into colour, i will will probably work them into my Anery line, as basically thats all i have to work with. Once there onto their 2-3rd breedings, i will try for colour, after seeing your results. ALso need to get myself a ridicolously coloured little Bam Bam into the projects, but as anything i get, wont be even be born yet, it a long time before it even breeding!!

gfx Jun 04, 2008 07:55 PM

Quite a change in them since you've gotten them. If I were to pair them today, I'd put Baroque with Apricot and Biwa to see if I could have a better chance of retaining the "pearl" in the pearl pattern. Kind of a bummer its disappearing like that. The circles will look cool on lighter and brighter snake tho.

hey check that out in those last two pictures it looks more like a reverse crescent than a pearl... if there is such a thing as reverse crescent that is.... lol then again maybe it could be

The only clear difference is that one seems to have a lot of dark spots/scales in the middle areas. IMO - VERY similar!!!

Those are too awesome and that pattern just has to be genetic IMO and it will be interesting to see that bred into all those groovy colors you have as well.

Don't you have many projects going on simultaneously!!

What a great record of how the snakes change pattern/color as they grow older. Fascinating! Has it been what you expected with the pearls?

Honestly, I'm not surprised they darkened up, they were fairly dark to start with (excluding the side markings). Of course I'd rather they kept all that baby color. Still am very happy with them and now to work on improving the color with selective breeding!!!!
