Breeding Western Hogs...need advice

dendrophila Sep 01, 2003 03:35 AM

I have an adult trio of c.b.b. hogs i aquired through a friend. I'm interested in breeding them this yr. Only problem is i have no idea what their season is, what temps to cool them to, who should be introduced into who's cage and so on. Any successful breeder that could give me a little info and some nice little tips would be greatfully appreshiated! Thanks in advance,
John

Treat them just like any other north American colubrid...
Hibernate(Brumate) them for 3 or 4 months during winter, from November to March
Temps should be 52-55F during that time... Make sure their gutt is cleared
out before cooling them..
They breed in the spring several weeks after being warmed back up.
They are easy to breed and often double clutch.
Seeing those little turned up snouts, poking through eggs shells makes it
all worth while
