ON Topic for a change!! My new Anery!!

natsamjosh Jun 04, 2008 08:07 PM

Okay, it's not an anery... but it is a Rainbow Boa!!! So I am officially in da club now. He's a beautiful baby Argentinian RB I just got from Jeff. (Thanks Jeff!) Very small and cute.

I named him Mendoza.

Just need to keep him away from Jack, so he doesn't become desayuno.

Thanks,
Ed

Jeff,

Thanks, I'm looking forward to seeing him grow. Did his parents have any orange in them? Just curious.

Thanks,
Ed

Ed,
...No real orange on the parents. They are both well patterned but the pattern is made up of different shades of grey with a little tan-brown along the mid dorsal area.

You can see a little bit of the mother's color in these PICs. The father is a little more grey and less brown-tan than she is.

Jeff,

Thanks for the pics. I was just curious, since I saw pics of
what is supposedly an Argentinian, but it was colored almost like a corn snake.

I really like the look of Mom.

Thanks,
Ed

Mendoza is a very pretty snake. Your pictures are great too. Someday I want to get into the Argentines. There is just something about them....

I must say it is even more attractive in person than in pictures. I'm curious to see if/how it's color will change as it grows.

Thanks,
Ed

Officially I'd like to say "Welcome to the Rainbow Boa club".
Very cool little snake. After having the 'Cadillac of Reptiles' everything else will probably pale in comparison but you'll dig it anyway.
Enjoy and post pics as it grows,
Paul

natsamjosh Jun 05, 2008 04:00 PM

Thanks Paul. I'm sure I'll enjoy him. And if I don't, I can always give Cadillac Jack a 5-start gourmet dinner.

BTW, congrats on the king snake eggs. I saw your post and pics, very nice.

Thanks,
Ed

Congratulations on getting the little charmer. Nice to have you now as an "official" member vs. a wanabee! But I'll warn you, there's no going back once you've been bitten by the rainbow boa bug!

Thanks Renee. Not sure about being bitten by the rainbow boa bug, but I was finally bitten by a rainbow boa. He got a little feisty last night.

My problem is that I like all kinds of snakes!

Thanks,
Ed

ReneeValois Jun 05, 2008 06:31 PM

It's not a problem to love all kinds of snakes---unless of course, you want to have them all (like me) but can't!

I've got to say, the only snake that has ever bitten me was my rainbow boa, too. (Although that was very much my fault, since I startled him while he was sleeping; he struck fast before he--and I---knew what was happening!)
