Stripped Grayband!

ShawnEby Jun 04, 2008 09:39 PM

Posting this for my cousin Dan Eby. He hatched this one out today. I thought my heart was going to stop when I seen it. Very cool stuff! There is absolutely zero percent chance there was any temperature fluctuations so I'm really hoping this one can get proved.

That snake is amazing!

Equally amazing (at least to me) is that there are two other Eby's that are into herping and alternas.

Shoot me an email at Daryl(at)MountainLivingLand(dot)com so we can compare genealogies.

Equally amazing that 3 Eby's wouldn't correct stripped to striped!

alternater Jun 05, 2008 06:01 PM

Now thats funny!! If I'd of posted that the alterna thin-skins would of chastised me for pointing out there spelling flaws but you can get away with it!! Good for you. BA

Awesome man -- very nice. But is all okay in the umbilical area of that hatchling? Looked a bit swollen and with something still connected. Hoping it's nothing....

Spelling has never been a strong area for me and I am okay with that. The swelling should be from absorbing of the yolk. The pictures were taken within hours of the snake leaving the egg.

Well onward and upward then. I see the Eby bank account growing larger in the coming years. Congratulations guys -- well done.

Awesome snake. A local guy was producing striped alterna back in the mid 90s but none were as nice as that one. The guy no longer breeds them but I THINK that Larry Keller is still working with the line. How many were in the clutch? Any other abberancies?

Take care,
Jeff Port

That thing is AMAZING. I've never seen a striped that looked that good. The black borders on the edge of the stripe are KILLER!

Congrats!

Wish we knew. My cuz bought a clutch of 8 from some kid a few years ago. Haven't been able to find the kid since to find out where he got them. It's a mystery....

Are the parents just normal or do they have some abberrant traits? Do you think it is a simple recessive trait?

Thanks.
