Fragmentation of the forums. They have added so many subforums it decreases the number of participants to a level that makes it barely worthwile checking for new posts. About 4-5 years ago there was one Python forum and it was great. Inactivity breeds further inactivity. The Boa Forum has not been divided up that much, and wow, it is one of the more active ones.

I have never been one for such specialized forums. I really does limit the traffic. Also, I miss meeting other with different interests and animals. It really was better back in the day when it was just a boa and python forum. They were VERY busy indeed!!!

I agree completely. If you want to meet people with other interests and compare animals etc, you have to go to at least 4 or 5 forums. They need to make it closer to the way it was. Or maybe the mods could get involved like on many other forums. Post some pics of their animals, give their advice, share their stories etc. I think that would make it more interesting and fun for all.
I despise the trickle in which some of these forums progress at. But at the same time, I imagine coming to a forum to read or add posts about retics and having to peruse hundreds of ridiculous (in my opinion) posts about some little kids' first scrub, childrens or spotted. The younger kids tend to post a whole lotta nothing about nothing and it really just grates my nerves to no end. I don't even go into the main Python forum anymore. It is just filled with a bunch of crap daily. So while I loathe the frequent bordom here, I am glad that it is not poluted with nonsense. (not usually, anyway)

If 50% of one's enemies are still breathing,... it just means you're doing a half-assed job.
I guess that is why noone answered my question about the difference in breeding burms and retics. It is a senseless question that i should not if posted. I knew the moment i posted it noone would answer it.

What is stupid to some........Is not to others. Becuase if someone asks a question.........You can be sure that a lot of others are wondering about it as well. I am not sure what Brian was really referring to. But, these forums really are suppose to be a place of learning. Be you a "pro" or a new snake owner. I would help you but I have no experience with breeding pythons at all.

I tried to breed burms last year. I talked to Bob Clark and he was great help. I still produced 97 slugs.I decided to get out of burms and into retics. I am interested in learning to breed them. I would of keep my burms but i do not have room. I also figured that someone else was wondering the same thing about breeding. I will be trying to produce tiger retics this year. Thanks to all who answered my question!!

LMAO...that's funny.
I have a feeling you'll have better luck next round.
Hey Tom,
Your question wasn't a stupid one by any stretch of the imagination. I would guess that most retic and burm breeders didn't answer it is because they don't want to post too much data that will result in more competition for themselves. Competition brings prices down. But both species are easy to breed, in my opinion. And you shouldn't give up on burms just because you got a couple of slug clutches. Everyone has bad years. My first year was a disaster back in 82. And it was because of a poor incubator design brought about by recieving disinformation from other breeders. I took their advice as gold and as a result hatched nothing. But I learned on my own from trial and error and soon had it right. Just keep your snakes as content as can be and the rest almost falls into place. There really isn't such a thing as a "good breeder" so much as a "good snake keeper with happy snakes". Happy snakes breed well. And every snake is a potential "good breeder". If you do stick it out with burms, go with some of the latest morphs. his way you will be able to market your offspring better. And you will need to cycle them for a couple of months. Email me and I will write a long email on temps. But it really isn't as specific as most people think it is. There's a lot of leeway or play.

If you are asking a question for which you really want an answer for, simply email some of the knowledgeable folks directly and I can almost guarantee you, they will email you back. We all have lives and are all real busy, sometimes we respond to forum posts and sometimes we don't...it's an open forum and you shouldn't take it personally if no one responds to your posts. But, there is a lot of information here and you should be able to get answers to your questions. But I know its frustrating when you ask a good question and no one responds so just keep posting questions.
On a sidenote about this debate, I have very mixed feelings about the forums. I like separate forums but not the inactivity that some of them have. Perhaps clumping groups together (like a "Giant Constrictors Forum" would be better. If we had just one python forum, I kind of go along with what Brian Smith said as I, too, get frustrated in sifting through post after post of what I would consider to be meaningless questions/posts. Maybe we need a "grown up" forum and a "kid forum".
I do not take it personal. I just want to come in at night and find more post. I do not want to see a post made on Mon. still the first post on Fri. I have seen you posting Rob on Bob Clark forums. They seem to move a little more.

...would really want to get caught up in all the BALL PYTHON POLITICS????????
My guess is slim to none!

Having separate forums definitely has its benefits! I'll take slow over not having to sift through stuff I dont' want to read any day.
Just my $.02...
