Very interesting Prairie you've found there... have you found others proximal to it? Are they your typical muted brown to olive or more like that snake? Thanks...

I've found several other prairie kings in the same area, including a massive DOR specimen over 5' total length; they're actually by far the most common large snake under our coverboards at the Milan Army Ammunition Plant. This is the only post-juvenile spotted phase I have seen there; most individuals have been the more typical plain brown snakes with very muted, almost invisible markings, except for a couple of brightly colored juveniles. I am guessing that the juveniles of both forms look similar; do any of you breeders know whether this is true?
When I flipped up the coverboard the first thing I thought was "milksnake"! LOL.
