Moonglow genetics?

Homeslice31 Jun 05, 2008 10:49 AM

Can someone confirm if this is o.k. Moonglows are hypos homozygous for albino and anery? In other words, they are albino ghosts. I've seen some reasonable triple het babies for sale, but if I wanted to improve my odds and pair up the triple het female with a snow boa male, purchase an 09 next season, could I obtain one. Are snow boas still too rare and too expensive? thanks

You are correct although I like to think of the "moonglow as a "Hypo Snow". Because there is a possibility of the moonglow being a super I prefer the variable dominat trait be listed first. Just my personal preference, Albino Ghost is accurate and eventually we could have Albino Super Ghost's....but "Moonglow" works just as well.

As for potential mates I think a pair of triple Het females would be great mates for an 09' Male Snow. They aren't rare in fact they are becomeing less rare everyday!

Cheers

Yes your are correct, a moonglow has two Albino, two Anery and one or two Hypo genes. Hypo Snow = Albino Ghost = Anery Sunglow = Moonglow

Trust me, the minimal way to get there is a DH Snow bred to a TH moonglow. Just did that yesterday!!!!

And YES, a snow bred to a TH will give you MUCH better odds.

DH x TH = 1/32 odds for a moonglow
Snow x TH = 1/8 odds for a moonglow

Also, the babies from a Snow x TH will all have known genetics, either they show the recessive trait or they are het for it!!!

My lil moonglow...
