mealworm vs. mealworm beetle...which is better?

dravenxavier Sep 01, 2003 07:32 AM

I'm just wondering...is there any nutritional differences between the mealworm and it's adult form, the flour beetle? I noticed many reptiles LOVE the beetles on the few occassions I've sacrificed some of my breeders to some hungry lizards. Are they good for them though? Thanks!

If your reptiles can stand the benzoquinone secretions from the beetle without spitting them out, there shouldn't be a problem. Nutritionally, there is probably less fat & more chitin for the reptile (lizard)to digest.
