so what is the best method to get rid of mouthrot in a huge but sweet iguana? I can take it to my vet but I have cured mouthrot in snakes with peroxide betadine mix and swab the mouth. Any input? Thanks

Oral swabs like that are more a short term cure cleaning up the base issue, but not the others. A vet will prescribe an antibiotic that will be an oral one. I recently had an iguana in my rescue with recurring mouth rot, treated the same way you did for many years. We are hoping the oral antibiotics are the cure.
Defiantely go to the vet.

Plus, iggies seem to be prone to infection moreso than snakes. I'd second the vet check. I'd also add some probiotics like Nutribac and check out reasons for mouth rot in the environment. Is he rubbing or banging his face, etc.
