got the new baby

been wearing gloves to handle it, wouldnt stop snapping yesterday but today only snapped one time and i had been holding him a while.

im scared to take the gloves off lol.

how old are they when they stop being snippy babies? just so i have something to look forward to

I got my baby yesterday, and he was quite calm when I unpacked him. Later in the evening, though, he was a little grumpy and bit me. It's really not that bad, didn't even break the skin. Just a little pinch. Don't psych yourself out.

One trick I've heard of... Put a dirty shirt in the cage with it (assuming it's not in a small cage) Point being to get the snake used to your smell.

Congrats on the new snake!

If it has already calmed down that quickly - I would think only a few weeks. Most that I have were really grumpy when unpacked, but were fine after a week or so.

Thanks for your first post - I do not handle my snake too much and thinking of your first post I handled my most aggressive one - an 07 female. Only one bite to the forearm and only one drop of blood – so I feel it was a success. After the bite to the forearm without a reaction from me, she calmed down nicely. I even palpitated her and yes she is a she.

My Abbi still strike till this day, i handle her with no problem, one false move and she strikes, i place her on my boa tree and she strikes as i approach, gets old real fast. shes over a year now, but radar whom i just got doesn't care what happens no strikes, real laid back.
