New Baby question.

glitterlust Jun 06, 2008 12:39 AM

Okay my new baby boa i just receaved for free from a friend. Her boyfriend bred snakes and wanted to start breeding boas, and he had bought a pair and he decided not to breed them and couldn't keep them any longer so i took it.

He said he is was a true BCC and not a Common BCI. Honestly when i first saw him i thought it was anery, but since he is mainly copper/fawn color that i figured that couldn't be right. Someone mentioned maybe Hog-Island and i have seen a few that did indeed look like mine, but i wanted to be sure. I used to have a BCI and i had her until she got around 10ft and so now one of my best friends is taking care of her since i just don't have the room right now, but i will be moving in about a year so i will be able to take both with me. Anyway (off subject) My BCI was had more strikeing colors and had a much brighter tail. Don't get me wrong i think the new baby is beautiful and i think the copper on his head (never seen that before) is gorgious and it draws your eyes to his head.

This next pic of his belly. He has this when i got him. Its very rough. Would this mean he was burned or something at one point or is it something else? Its only on like a 3 inch area. the rest of him is fine.

Please let me know what you think he is.

DEFINATELY BCI...Looks like a Hog Island or maybe some other Central American boa. Still a good looking baby but not BCC. Congrats on the pickup by the way

Might just be a form of Nicaraguan or other C.A. Boa.
Hard for me to tell from these pics.

What type of pics should i take that would make it easier for you to tell? And can anyone give me an idea on whats wrong with his belly scales? Is on the last photo.

I have a feeling its either a hog or a hog mix. I have never owned a hog, any good tips? BTW this is possible the more gentel snake i have ever know. and spends 90% of his time in the water. I have a swimming pool outside (kids swimming pool) and he loves it.. my other boas hated to be put in water. lol

here is is new pic i took just now, as u can see is he mainly tan, brown, fawn, and very pastel colors with pastel pink under her.

From this picture it even seems to have a little Honduran
flavor to it.You'll never really know until you find the
true lineage.Which can only come from the original breeder
of this boa. Obviously the person you got it from was clueless
because there are not any BCC traits in this Boa.Resembles Hog
Isle Boa but can't be certain if some other CA influence is
there.
Here's your pic:
