UV Lighting

evolady Jun 06, 2008 03:05 PM

hello all, I am buying UV lighting very soon. I usually get zoo med but I see a wide variety of brands out there, even some compact bulbs. I have one ig, he is within a foot from the source, what should I get? I usually get the zoomed 10.0 but can I get away with the 5.0?

Compact bulbs aren't that great, so I'd stay away from them whenever possible.

I'm a big fan of the 8.0 and the 10.0 tubes. I know the 10.0 can seem like overkill, but when you consider that so much of the UV can be filtered out by screen/mesh, and it's only of fraction of natural sunlight, it's not too much.

Still, natural sunlight whenever possible is the very best, and don't forget to change those long bulbs every 6 months.
