heffner2212 Jun 07, 2008 02:50 AM

by the looks of that can you tell if its a boy or girl. sorry the pics so blury. I think he/she is about 2 years old and 800 grams and 39" with barely a 2 inch at widest point it was poorly taken care of by someone who lived in an apt close to mine. Can anyone help me out on this?

I've never had a problem popping big ball pythons. If knubs come out with red tips then its a male.

first off, who tought you how to pop a snake, you are doing it HORRIBLY wrong. you dont just bend the tail back and determine the sex. watch adam wysoki's popping lessons on youtube. you can seriousley injure a snake popping it wrong

and OKreptilerescue you can pop a full grown BP

how do i probe him....with with what??? also there are 2 light pinkish nubs that come out on each side does that mean its a male?? Ive heard female have them too...there not thast long and im pretty sure no red tips?? I really want to fight out the sex because if its a female i might try breeding this faLL

the picture is too blurry to tell. Typically the hemipenes are quite long, maybe as long as half an inch when inverted in an adult ball python and they will have a red vein. Smaller clear bumps are most likely scent glands which both male and females have.

You need to buy sexing probes to use to probe a snake, the ball tipped ones are the best. But, it is best to have somebody show you how it is done, as you can injure a snake if you push the probes in too hard.

do you not understand, you just just bend the tail back and go "oh its a female"

i am not giving these links for you to just look at them and try to sex a snake, but to know you are doing it wrong and can hurt the snake, have someone who knows how to do it show you
