brb baby

tiacarmela23 Jun 07, 2008 07:58 PM

The new baby has already calmed down quite a bit. Hasn't struck at me or anything in a couple days. The gloves are off (literally lol) and she is very relaxed with me now, even taking her out of the tank.

I'm VERY surprised she is so good already!
I'm going to post pics as soon as I can. She has silver eyes, they're so pretty!

Great to hear. Can't wait to see posted pics. If some of mine still bite and others I could smack in the face (not that I would) and they would just look at me funny. The more you handle her the more she'll chill out. Babies tend to be nippy, and how quick they mellow out depends on the snake, but keep working with her and she'll calm down no doubt! Also, if she bites you, just put on a pair of thick gloves and let her bite. If you give her what she wants... she'll learn to bite! Good Luck!

I hope she stays as sweet as she has been for the last couple of days. I've been handling her as much as I can without stressing her out. She seems to enjoy it, and pretty much comes right to you. Last night I held her up to the light so a friend could see her colors, and she slithered right off me and onto him! I was very surprised!

Yeah, it really does not take mong with a calm person, if you act like you're the boss and know what to di they catch on, if you're timid, they sense that as well.

Just be careful, you can startle her and make her strike at any time. Like Jeff always says "listen to your snake" hich meanbs pay attention to how it's acting, they can be moody just like us!!

I am glad it has already calmed down. I have just enough that they do not all get handled, so I still have some that I have to be a bit careful with. Learning rainbow boa's behaivor is the best judge - you will soon tell if your snake is moody - or having an of day. I have not had snakes too long (a few years), but lately have even been able to handle one's who are grumpy.
