I was just down in that area. There are pics of what I found if you go down this page. I found cotton mouths to but I thought they were Water Moc. Thats what a turtle guy gets for trying to identify snakes. lol. P.M. me wayne and I will tell you where I was, it was a great area. Beautiful pics.

ya the cotton mouth is my fav shot out of all of them. I wish I would have waited for the box turtles to open up but was being ate alive by bugs.

to live in a county with such herp diversity. I work in Jacksonville, New Bern, and Morehead City about one week out of every month, so I frequent the area. Good stuff down that way! In less than 20 hours in the field, I have found 13 different species of snakes in the area within 50 miles of Jacksonville.

Have you found any corns from the area yet? The ones I've seen from there are very "Okeetee-like".

Here's a live mole from early April.

Thanks,
Michael

is all in the timing...I was there last week for 5 days and never even bothered to go out. It was 82 degrees at 6am on Monday...crazy... I did manage to see a corn, cottonmouth, and banded water DOR while just driving around.

Shoot me an email...mcoone@hotmail.com...we can talk more. I'm working in New Bern in late August again and maybe we could get together then.

Thanks,
Michael

Ahh, at least some one is finding snakes here!! I am WAY behind the power curve this year! I did call in the DOR gator on US17 this week. Sad.
- I will call you when I get more that 5 min of time to go out looking for critters. This will be after the new kid can lift his head (and talk and hold snake bags and hooks...)
