My 2 corns

fantasyxbabygurl Jun 08, 2008 02:09 AM

The first is my blizzard which had shipped to me as a hatchling last year. I accually got 2 of them but....one escaped never to be found much to my unhappiness.

So only the female blizzard remains. I was just curious but ive noticed recently that shes acting really.... mean. when i got into the cage at anytime now especially feeding day shes constantly striking at me. The last time i had to scoop her up to get her out of the cage. shes a tiny bit better out of the cage but still tries to get away. Great eater though. I was wondering if maybe its time to move her up from pinkies or the season is making her mean?

The second is a normal corn who was also hatched last year but i only recently got her from a step sister. She got her at last falls reptile show for free because the guy said he couldnt get her to feed and that she might not live long. She told me she only got it to eat a pinkie once since then to about a month ago when i got it. Is that possible for it to live that long? Anyway i took her home and she ate a pinkie same day for me and the next week she ate 2 then the next week 1 and a couple of days ago again 2. So success story

Nice blizzard, I think her trying to get away is just a handling issue, handle her more and most likely it will stop.

do you handle the blizzard often? sounds like its scared when you go in to grab her... but think if it in the lil snakes view... Huge hands (from snakes view) coming to take me away or possibly eat me... if you feed the snake a pinky for example and you dont see a "lump" where the pinky is in the tummy... try 2 pinkies... if that leaves a nice little lump, switch to fuzzies

Is that pine bark on the bottom of the cage? I think I read somewhere that the pine bark causes respiratory problems in snakes. I know I will be corrected if I am wrong; these guys and gals are "on it."
