Thinking of new idea for FBT

fantasyxbabygurl Jun 08, 2008 03:13 AM

I was thinking of this idea for my 2 fire bellied toads. Getting a peice of glass or plexi and sealing it diagnally as shown in picture to make a nice pool on one end. then having 3/4ths of the tank as a planted terraium. Where i have there tank though id prefer to have a under tank heater and obviously with so much substrate it wouldnt work too well. i was wondering is i could put most of it under the water part. Would this make the water too warm? would it help with humidity? is there any iseas or tips anyone wants to share?

It would work but you know what you could do which I have seen at pet store and dart frog forum.
Take plastic egg crate you can buy it at home depot, etc cut it to size you want and silicon any cheap screen mesh behind it than silicone the egg crate to the tank as your divider.
You add natural looking gravel big or small makes no difference than plant pothos, ivy, fast growing plants that grow well with roots submerged in wet substrate they work as filter keeping gravel clean grow great look great and the toads love them.

If you feel you need to use submersible heater it will keep the gravel warm also but I would think for fire belly toads its not needed and any cheap floursecent bulb like those twist energy savers would be more than fine for the plants.

The dart frog forum has actual plans of what I just rambled on about lol
