Ellie hand feeds

wftright Jun 09, 2008 12:10 AM

I didn't start out to hand feed the new girl, but I was changing her water when I went to check the warming process. The mice were warm, so I was carrying her and the mouse back to the cage. I had already left the bigger mouse in Rocket's cage. She seemed pretty calm and had wrapped my thumb pretty well. I decided to see whether she'd take the pinkie while in my hand.

She never let go of the thumb. In fact, she didn't let go until she was back in her cage and had crawled most of the way under her hide.

I guess I could be feeding her bigger mice, but I have a bunch of pinkies. Maybe I'll start feeding her two at a time.

She's a great little girl. She always eats, and she's growing well.

She's a fun little girl. She's an example of why the thayeri may be the perfect species for the small snake pet trade.

I think they are a perfect pet snake. That was the primary reason I liked them and decided to breed them.

She's had a great disposition since day one. Glad to see she's doing so well

She's growing well and seems happy. The other night, the head fell off her pinkie before I put it in the cage, but she'd still eaten both head and body within a few hours.
