What is it?

srsb Jun 09, 2008 07:25 AM

So, my step-daughter sent me this picture of a snake she saw at a show, and now she REEEAAAALY wants one. But, she didn't find out what it is. And, she did not get the snake's head in the pic.

So, in order to see if this is a reasonable pet for us, can anyone tell me what it is?

Thanks!

That is a Cape Filesnake (Mehelya capensis) from southern Africa. They don't make good pets as they almost exclusively eat skinks and snakes, IIRC.

If you want a snake that looks similar but is easier to keep, you might look for a nice striped california kingsnake.
