temperature probe placement in new cages

tumbslt Jun 09, 2008 02:11 PM

Hello everyone,

I just got a new stack of 3, 6 foot cages and was just wondering where the best place would be to put my temperature probe for my helix 1000 to control the radiant heat panel inside the cages. I have heard to put the temp in the middle cage but still unsure of what location. Do I put the probe directly under heat panel on the bottom? or perhaps side near middle of heat panel? Any advice or better, images of where you have your temp probes placed for proper operations would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance,
tumbslt

I actually have the same type of set up. Heat panel and same thermastat. I actually drilled a hole next to the heat panel on the celeling and drop it down right on the side of the heat panel but the middle of the heat panel it. I use the heat panel on one far side of the cage not in the middle. I also use a temp gun to measure the floor temp. Because the thermastat will say 90 but the floor temp will be 100. The key is getting it in there hanging by it so the sensor is by the heat panel, from there you use the temp gun to measure floor temps and set the thermastat accordingly. Hope that Helps. All stuff I learned just recently. I was cooking my poor guys and did not even know it. I thought the air temp should be what the thermastat was set at.
