Found Eastern Milksnake

muffygirl Jun 09, 2008 08:12 PM

I found a Eastern Milksnake in my house. It is about 30" long. I would like to keep it. I have a set up for it. I need to know what to feed it and how often. I have a 2yr old ball python also. Do i need to get it a Heating pad like I have for my Ball Python. Bascially do I care for it as i do my Ball.

ALL YOU NEED IS A 30 GALLON TANK {FOR SUMMER AND A HEAT PAD FOR WINTER }AND A WATER BOWL AND HIDE BOX AND FEED IT MICE HE SHOULD DO GREAT

Thanks for the info. I do have it in a 30 gallon tank with topsoil on the bottom with weathered pine needles and dried leaves as substrat,a half round hide, a water pool and a large ceramic(?) branch, also store bought vines attached to the sides of tank.

I went to the pet store yesterday and got two red guppies(fish) and put them in the pool.

I picked him up today he seemed somewhat lathargic. Low and behold I discovered he had just recently ate one of the guppies.

I do plan on putting him back into the wild but I would like to enjoy him for awhile as hubby will not let me purchase a snake as a pet.

What would be a good thing to do is to do the snake a favour and release him back into the wild.

I do plan on setting him free.

It is so ironic that this snake came to me. For the last 4 months i have been trying to talk my husband into letting me get a snake as a pet(corn snake) and he will have nothing to do with a snake in the house.

I have been to shows have books and help my grandson who lives next door take care of his ball python.

I am just enjoying him for awhile. Now that he is eating all is good. He is very tame but I know he must be set free.

you can care for it pretty much the same way as your ball python. Warm end low 80s, water bowl on the cool end. Newspaper or paper towel substrate works well. Try offering a frozen/thawed small mouse roughly once a week at night. Keep the food item small enough for the snake to handle it easily.

I wonder if you still have the milk snake
