I saw the ballXblood at the NARBC arlington show--- Looked pretty cool--- like a giant ball python with a blood's head. -- too rich for my blood though... no matter how cool...

I have not seen the ballXburm except in pictures--- looks neat too...

As for the whole hybrid issue--- I'm indifferent. Do it or don't but if there are obvious incompatability issues-- such as, whatever babies produced have genetic issues, like kinks, or neurological issues... or some other "problem" -- not real into that-- there's enough wierdo's in the world-- no need to be making snakey-ones....

Is that a can of worms I see being opened lol. Anyway, I myself do not like hybrids, but thats just me!

I'm very indifferent on the hybrid issue as well. I think the severe negatives are undeniable... there are ethical issues to consider. But there are also decent positives, and good arguements for the cause, and I choose not to be apart of the can of worms that this post will probably open.

But I must add that I think the Burm/Ball Cross is absolutely gorgeous. The creature itself is a work of art (not necessarily the means, tho, again I am indifferent).

Well I can’t find my back up disc with all my snake pic.s on it to post what they look like but I will just say I DO NOT BELIEVE IT IS RIGHT TO CROSS THESE ANIMALS !!!! If they are naturally accruing hybrids then so be it but to cross species that can not and have no way to cross in nature I feel is very wrong !!!! Yes they may look cool but they have not been around long enough to know whether there is ill effects from long term breeding of these animals , and if they are hybrids they should have to have a pit chip put in them and any offspring to ovoid any contamination of the genius ,whether accidental or on pupas . All one has to do is look at the Corn Snake market you cant find a normal Corn with pure blood ! It gets out of control when a large market for crosses opens up , to many irresponsible people start cross breeding and not keeping track of things , just breeding and selling ,breeding and selling and then it gets out of control . So just say NO to hybrids . Thanks . David of DS Reptile Rescue , Removal & Rehabilitation

No disrespect or anything (I pretty much agree with you on the issue of hybrids) but I couldn't help by laugh alittle bit at the end of your post, reminded me of those public service announcements...say no to drugs kids! Hugs not hybrids! lol.

cool !

I have seen some nice hybrids, but personally I don't see the point. There are many things to discover in the genetics of a ball python x ball python breedings there is no need to add 'foreign' genes into the mix.

I am not convinced there ever was a ball python x Burmese python...the few pictures look more like ball x blood or just plain blood pythons.

Superballs are ball pythons x Angolian Python if I recall correctly.

Once a hybrid is created it takes very long to breed out the foreign genes....even if its actually possible. So you always have the sell offspring, even if 5 generations or more from the original hybrid, as hybrids.

superball is a ball x borneo short tails.
Angolean balls are ball x angolan pythons.

HATE THEM,and will not buy any snake from those that produce them.

Word!

that will work for me ! David

I personally like the way all the ball hybrids look the wall (woma X ball), the carpall (carpet X ball), the superball (blood X ball) and the burmball. If its an ethics issue with some then maybe they should look inside themselves why would you keep an animal like a snake to breed it anyway your playing "God" as well as someone breeding hybrids. Another thing is look at the variety of "domestic" animals we have from the common dog to the cow all hybrids and I see no ill effects when Im eating a cheeseburger and petting my dogs. But Im not here to get into a pissing match just my 2 cents.

The only one people see are the successes , they don’t show you all the grotesque and deformed failures and sort lived successes that end in painful failure of internal organs and other forms of premature death . Its one thing to do selective breeding within a species , but to cross species that would never breed in the wild is another. David

Don't really care that people breed crosses, but I do worry about the health and genetics of breeding such large species to such small ones. To me, patterns aside, when I see some of those long skinny necks attached to extremely wide bodies, I just see a genetically defunct snake.
