Baby hatched early?

thegeckobarn Sep 01, 2003 12:46 PM

Hi,

I had my last 2 eggs of this season incubating at 82F. One hatched a 39 days, the other at 41 days. Isnt that a little early? Well..the baby that hatched at 39 days hatched lifeless..but I kept it in the incubator for 24 hours and it was still practically lifeless..but with a little bit of odd movement, it stumbled while trying to walk, and couldnt lift its head. And not too long after, it started acting like a normal, healthy hatchling. Quite suprising. So its doing great now, like nothing had happened.
The second baby hatched with no problems, normal baby also.
So I was just wondering..is this too early? Or normal?

Thanx

It's not unheard of. I hatched out a clutch at 35 days this year. Both babies were healthy, same with the clutch at 39 days. I know of one person that was hatching out babies at 30 days two years ago. Alot depends on temp. This year I had all my eggs cooking at 86 degrees.
