My second clutch of Ball eggs were layed either late last night or early this morning and I found them before work today. There looks to be seven healthy eggs and one dud from what I can tell and they all appear slightly larger, on average, than the clutch that was layed about a month ago. Anyway, I took some quick pics this moring and will be getting them all into the incubator tonight when I get home.

I also wanted to say thanks to everyone for the nice responses to my post last week about the school presentation. I intended to be better about posting replies but the end of the week and the weekend got way to hectic for me. It always amazes me that one day off can lead to that much time playing catch up here.
I highly recomend it though for anyone that is ever interested it doing something like that and it sounds like everyone who has done it has had just as much fun as I did.
(And for Frank, No my neck isn't quite that long, there must have been some artistic liberties taken for that portrait)
Well time to get back to work...
Milo

First off, congrats on the second clutch of "pet rock" eggs!!!

This should be my next litter, due next week she's a Ghost (pos super) bred by my Motleys. When I run the dopler heart monitor over her I pick up little heartbeats all over the place. Here are a few sequential pics of her at various POS + days...

At POS + 15 (03/20)

At POS + 28 (04/02)

At POS + 93 (06/06)

.....pace, pace, pace. I keep checking in on her and am very happy to not see anything - yet, don't want her dropping early!!!!

Dave,
...What heart rate do you find for the fetal Bci and have you found any fetal heart sounds with gravid BRBs yet?
Jeff

Most of the time my monitor is not showing an actual rate??? The ones I noticed were around 80, I've stopped looking at the display and just listen as I move the probe around. Probably my lack of knowing what I'm doing? Have not even tried any of my BRB's yet as they are so far away from due dates.

I'll try and get some new pics but I'm having a hard time getting decent pics of the Moonglow. All four are doing fine, "cooking off" the excess yolk.

I was just checking out your post. Good luck with your's! What was your average weight on the eggs? The first clutch I had averaged only about 65 grams/egg the day they were layed and this new one is about 95. Seems like a big diffrence but then again the second female is the larger of the two.
Be sure to post some pics of your pieds when they arrive. Pieds are definately a very cool morph in my opinion.

FRoberts Jun 10, 2008 08:33 PM

I didn't weigh the clutch...I did weigh the female after she was 1670 g.

At height of breeding she weighed 2700 g

I should have weighed them..they are HUGE eggs...I was shocked seven popped out.

With a het to het breeding there is a chance I get no pied's...there is also a chance for seven...lol

If I am successful at incubation I am sure I will post pic's.

As we discussed for yours she laid them 31 days post shed.

Thanks and good luck to you as well!!!!

Thanks and I definately will post updates. The first clutch has less than a month to now so I am pretty excited to watch the whole hatching process. I was/am pretty nervous as I have never incubated anything but so far things are looking good.

Jeff Clark Jun 13, 2008 08:48 PM

Milo,
...I don't know why but it seems way worse waiting that last week for eggs to hatch than waiting for live bearers. If they go 2 days past expected hatch date it is terrible trying to decide whether to leave them alone or go ahead and pip them.
Jeff
