Moonglow litter pre-shed update....

rainbowsrus Jun 10, 2008 09:06 PM

The litter sexed out at 2.2 The three with larger yolk bellies have been hanging out on the warm end digesting, the albino has been all over the place. He had not absorbed his yolk and I had tied it off and cut it away since it was huge and he was decent size. The end of the umbilical dried up and I was able to cut away the end with string before it retracted into his belly. My normal pic setup was not showing off the moonglow so I tried some different color backgrounds. Was easy, I stacked up a few different color folders and simply yanked one at a time out, if you pay close attention you can see some pics the background changes while the snake is in the same position.

Male Albino, has lotsa color....

Female Hypo pos TH moonglow, she was the smallest one of the litter and had a very large belly.

Male Hypo pos het moonglow, he was a noice large full size baby with a bit of a yolk belly...

And Luna, my female Moonglow. Not only a genetic jackpot, she's the healthiest of the four babies and her belly is already back to a normal size!!!!

Awesome, Love the name as well. I had never considered file folders as a background before. I think I'm going to try Andy's approach and use some Moss....but a great idea none the less.

Cheers

Looking forward to watching her progress....

I have to admit I was a little worried when I saw all that belly of yolk your moonglow had Dave. Excuse me on "LUNA"! She is definitely looking good now. Congrats on that genetic wonder.

Yeah, I was a little worried myself but Luna and the others have done great so far. I really love this forum, folks were noticing the yolk bellies and suggesting what to do about it right away! Makes me wonder, how many babies and other snakes have been saved either directly or indirectly by the knowledge shared on this and other forums? I know - no way of knowing or placing a real number on it.

BTW, these were my first yolk belly babies. Have not seen any similar issue with my BRB's.

Very nice Dave! The one hypo looks like an ORANGASM! I knew I should have held on to that female! Show us some post-shed pics once they're done.

Best of luck with them.

Hey Dave,

Luna is awesome!!! Congratulations on producing such a genetic goldmine.

I've liked snows from the beginning. In fact wanting to produce a snow is what really got me into boas. And now that we can produce moonglows, well I just can't wait til I have my chance (maybe in the next year or two).

Again, big time congrats on Luna.
