I would say that since the three of them appear to be different alleles of the same gene, they would behave similiarly when reacting with the piebald gene, but this is pure speculation (especially since I don't have any of those morphs).
It's anyone's guess what the mojave pied will look like but I was excited enough about the possibility of it being an immaculate white snake that I loaned most all my possible het pied females out for breeding to a mojave. Unfortunately they where borderline on size. There was a 6 egg clutch produced that hasn't hatched yet but I'm not sure it was from one of the pied project females (which where only possible hets anyway) or that the father was the mojave. I'll find out before hatch time but both me and the mojave breeder have been busy so I don't have the details yet. I'm hoping that a mojave that was also het pied might stand out so that and the fact that it's the best I have is why I even bothered with possible het pied females.
Anyone see any updated pictures of RDR's lesser pied, especially next to some of the other white snakes? I'm hoping the white is staying up there at a whole other level.
I have a gravid pied female now that was bred by male mojave, spider and pinstripe. If I hit a male mojave I may breed it to a pastel het pied this next season. Same for a male pin. I really would like to see a pied lemon blast and pied pastel mojave (sorry but I hate the name pastave).
I think the pied pinstripe or pied lemon blast would be something special. We should see a pied pinstripe this year, not sure about the pied lemon blast. I believe that most people were disappointed in the pied lesser and are not pursuing a pied mojave or pied butter because they believe they will have the same end result.
Best wishes,Mark Petros
I was disappointed when I saw the lesser pied...My reaction was ...great another lucy. (although leucistics are one of my favorite morphs) I was really expecting something else. Maybe a faded pied that had blushing white sides. I was very impressed when I saw the spider pied though. I remember seeing a picture that someone created of what they thought the spider pied would look like. It looked like a typical spider with huge white patches... awesome looking
