Has anyone ever seen this before? Her last shed was May 15. She is going through the "opaque" part of another shed cycle, and today laid a perfectly good clutch of eggs.

That's very interesting. I guess we have some "rule breakers" on our hands!
That was the first time breeding the amel motley, I'm interested in seeing if she does the same thing next year.

same here
but what is really odd... is she started a 2nd blue phase after laying her eggs so i gave her a nest box. She shed which was almost identical to her 1st. She dug and dug but never deposited eggs. i didnt feel any so i assumed the 2nd "surprise" clutch were slugs... she laid in the next box for a week or 2 and then just came out like it was nothing... it was really odd.... i wonder if yours will do the same....

I bet she does it again.
Last season my stripe cream laid almost two weeks earlier then "the numbers" say and I just figured it was a fluke, well this season she did the eaxact same thing.
Luckily I put her lay box in early this season.

Thats interesting Tim. I've had them lay one day after shedding and up to and over 3 weeks after shedding but never while right in the middle of a shed cycle.
