Adult beauty snake cage dimensions?

eponymous Jun 12, 2008 09:04 AM

Hey guys

My Taiwan beauty is a little over 5 feet and I think it's time to build his last enclosure, one that will last until he's an 8 foot monster.

What should the dimensions be? I was thinking 48" wide x 30" tall x 24" deep, but if I shorten to 24" tall I can save a lot of trouble and a little money. Is that too short? Too anything?

What do you guys think?

I know there are people that keep em in squat boid-style cages, but he spends mornings and evenings up in his tree so I want to give him some height. I know other people keep them in 6 foot tall monstrosities and I don't really have the room or think he needs it.

I think a 48 by 24 by 24 would be a good size cage. They definatly like to climb but the taiwans don't seem to be as arboreal as some of the other beauty snakes when they get big.

Great, thanks. I'll post full plans when it's complete.
