I am thinking of breeding mice soon, but i am just curious of what the best ways of killing them for freezing is. The first time i tried i pretty much squished its head, sufficating it. I need some better techniques. any suggestions would be wonderful.

The easiest, most humane method is with a CO2 chamber. You can get a 20 oz CO2 tank for paintball, refills cost a few bucks. One fill will last for a LOT of gassings. Or use dry ice if you have a cheap source for small quantities of dry ice.

Yours is much more elaborate than mine, but I suspect I work on a much smaller volume. I use a 20 oz paintball CO2 tank, paintball remote coil, and a 1 gallon plastic tub. refills are free on Tuesdays at the shop where I bought the tank, but I only have to refill every 6 months or so.

i built my chamber out of a 20 gal. tank i got a 30 lbs tank from a welding suppy shop for $130 and regulator and hose for another $50 from beverage factory.com with a 1000 to 1500 lbs pressure,depending on temp., in the tank it a bit dangerous just opening the valve i can do 100 mice or 10 to 30 rats at a time. for the bottom i used 1/2 inch hardware cloth to keep them off the floor for gas flow just cut it 3 or 4 squares bigger on each side and bend the extra squares to a 90 angle to form a leg like spacer all around i also put some bedding under it to soak up urine. i know not everybody needs this big of set up but maybe the info will help some one

Cervical dislocation(breaking the neck) is the fastest most painless way. Although it's not a good idea if ur killing more than 10 -20 at a time. Ur gonna breed for ur own consumption or as a business?
