Mealworm die offs?

Nicodemus Jun 12, 2008 01:42 PM

A local pet distributor told me he's been having a ahell of a time getting mealworms. He says for some reason they've been dying off in large numbers...at least from his supplier.

Anyone hear anything about this? is there some sort of mealworm killing disease going around?

I'm just curious if I should start my own colony or something.

I had my last purchased batch of supers regular DOAs for a week or so,but i attributed to the fact that i found a large brown recluse in the tub so i figure the spider went crazy in there.

also being summer time HOT and DRY i feel they need extra moisture food, which could be a cause

I bought 500 over a month ago and placed some in a 10 gallon with soil and moss to breed and the ones in the refig were dying off, so i placed the survivors in the tank and now i have babies galore. Along with crickets.
