Partial shed

john_stone Jun 12, 2008 04:27 PM

I found a small amount of a shed when spot cleaning that matches up with the vibrance gradient of my snake, except it doesn't have any starts for the rest of the shed. So I put it in a small container with a very wet paper towel soaked with warm bottled water.

How long should I leave it in there and how soon should it complete it's shed?

leave the moisture box for a couple of days. Also, do you use an undertank heating pad? If so, you can place the water dish over the heat pad to humidify the air. Watch you snake closely in case it is having shedding problems. Also, make sure there is something for the skin to get caught on. If the shed can't get stuck to a piece of furniture, the snake will be stuck wearing it. You can clean off a rough rock in hot water and bleach to kill any parasites and leave it in the cage to assist in shedding.

I had it in a rubbermaid container. I'll put some wet paper towels in one of the warm side hides.

I do. The water dish is pretty thick. Could I put wet paper towels over the screen lid instead?

What specifically should I be watching for?

I have a large piece of grape vine wood with a ton of rough places to crawl, I found the small piece of shed under it. Should I add something else?
