help with new baby boa

bytheshore1 Jun 13, 2008 08:53 PM

I had a nice litter of hogg X cherry pastel babies last week and they started shedding today. I noticed one of the boas had his hemipenes out and dried up at the ends. he seems to be acting fine other than that his thingies are dried up and has nothing left to look forward to in life. Will they be functional or should I label him as a pet only? I would get a pic but he is shy and my camera wont get that much detail. That pissed him off!
Thanks, Tim

To the vet immediately. Both hemipenes prolapsed, thats too bad.you
need to get him to the vet seriously. If caught sooner it probably
could've been fixed.

If a prolapse isn't fixed, the "dried up" tissue can be the site of a number of bacterial infections which may lead to eventual septis.

The dried up tissue should be removed by your vet, and he/she may put the neonate on a round of antibiotics as a precaution.
