Mildred drops 11!

antelope Jun 14, 2008 09:44 AM

I have been waiting on the edge of my seat for Mildred to lay, she is as cool as a cucumber, a real pro! She knows what she is doing, causing me great consternation, lol! I will get pics up tonight, seems the moss was a little too damp, causing some brown spots on a lot of the eggs. They all look good so far, Walt is da snake and Chris is DA MAN!!!

he set her up with the stud before shipping, if you were introduced to your future wife by a friend, wouldn't it make him DA MAN?, lol!

Here's the pic, with flash. The one below the quarter looks not so good, the two either side of the quarter look a leetle not as good, but the other eight look good, five of them very good. Seems the moss was a bit too wet, causing some discoloration, does that sound about right?

I agree, they look funky, but I think due to too moist sphagnum. Liver spots, lol!

What kind of moss did you use. It should not be peat moss. Try long fiber spagnum moss........Mike

antelope Jun 18, 2008 12:54 AM

it was indeed long fiber sphagnum moss, I think this batch wasn't wrung out as well as the first. I am certain she didn't lay them while I was away on the HCU trip, as I checked her as soon as I got back. She laid them that night and I got them in the morning before work. I think 1 is bad, 90% sure, two may be bad, 50% uncertain, and the rest look okay but a little smaller than Wilma's. They ate the same days but Wilma took more. Nothing has rotted or crumpled yet.
