Seems to me that they could and should have tried to release it a little closer to where it was found. Either that, or on my property. I'd love to see a bear down here.

I do agree somewhat; but unless they could of gotten permission from a rancher to release on their land, black gap is the closet "public" large expanse of land. Anyway according to google maps it is approx 119 miles from black gap to del rio "as the crow flys", and I am sure it is not unheard of for young males to travel this distance.
