Identification of Species...

dodgedakota09 Jun 14, 2008 03:25 PM

Found this guy in the woods next to the house... I believe it is a Georgia Kingsnake (but I'm no expert), the reason I think it is a king is that as it slithered away it did the tell tell sign of mimicing a rattlesnake with its flickering tail. These are the best photos I could get before he shot off... let me know what you know... thx

that is a big ol' black rat snake, and a nice one, too. many species of snakes will do that little tail rattling thing.

thanks for the picture.

Definately a rat snake. If does not look like a "pure" black rat, but rather a black x grey rat snake.

Ya know,.....that crazy "cubed" pattern would be worth introducing into the hobby!,.......that friggin pattern is out of this world, man!..LOL!

I guarantee a ton of Ratsnake breeders would buy that thing in a N.Y. second!,......but it's illegal to do so with a Georgia animal!..hahaha!..."catch 22" indeed!..

That's a nice black rat snake. I don't suppose you could shoo that thing into North Carolina, could you?
