I just picked up an Albino ball and although he seems alert he is not flicking his tongue. I know this isn't normal but how worried should I be?

May not have one! I produced a pastel a couple of years ago w/out one! It ultimately died, but it had other problems! Try to feed it! That will tell you a lot!
My python is a few years old. I've had him about 5-6 months and I've never seen his flick his tongue. Until now I never thought about it...hmmm...
Try putting a food item in front of him, or your hand - you should see something -- if not, carefully open his mouth and see if he has a tongue. You might also want to try flushing his mouth with a little water - dehydration has been known to make their tongues stick to the inside of their mouth.
Anyway -- once you've determined the presence of a tongue you can get back to us for more suggestions!

You should only be worried if you never see the tongue over a month period. I have seen this once. The snake had a tongue but for whatever reason, could not get it out. After a year or so, it eventually was able to get its tongue out.
