One of my female mice, isn't exactly adopting the pinkies I bought. She killed 7 of the 20, two of which were mauled so bad I couldn't even try to feed them to my geckos. She was biting the necks, which I thought she was just sniffing... I didn't notice they were being killed b/c she bit each only once, then all of a sudden blood started dripping everywhere. Why would only 1 of my mice act this way, while the other 2 are allowing the pinkies to feed from them?

-Kris

p.s. She's been put in her own cage for now, I don't want to loose any more pinks.

If you bought the pinkies she is probably reacting to the scent being different, so you could try rubbing a little menthalatem (SP? Something strong smelling) on her nose and see if she will accept them if she can't tell they are "Outsiders", but it is possible she is a cannibal, in which case you don't want her. You won't be able to re-introduce her to her colony if she stays out long (they will kill her if she is an "Outsider" and if she is a cannibal, she will never produce well for you.

You can try the scenting trick, but watch her. If she keeps it up, feed her off.

These weren't her's, but were bought and put in with her? If so, she doesn't make a good adoptive mom. Did she breed for you or not and how was she then? Maybe she is bred and didn't want other pinks around....often moms are like that, especially first time 'round.
