Dade County Canal "Brooksi" - WC 2008

foxturtle Jun 15, 2008 07:38 PM

January of this year, me and a good friend of mine set out for the "Canal Zone" of extreme southern Dade County in search of "brooksi". This was my second trip to the canal zone, and the first trip specifically targeting kings. The buddy I went with had been out there 20 times over the past few months, without a single king to show for it.

It must've been a lucky day... we found this one after hunting for a few hours:

Not quite the brooksi I was looking for, but nice to see nonetheless. He did show some brooksi traits... from the side he's patternless. A small kingsnake too, under 3 feet.

Wow, Brooks-a-thon today! Very nice to be a part of. Thanks for sharing this great picture. I would love to know where you found it, within a few miles, like how far from Chatham? I agree the patternless sides are a sure sign of Brooks, no matter what they actually look like. In this day of huge tracts of land being destroyed, I hope you kept it.

That's a nice king, nonetheless! I would be happy at finding such a king!

That's a great looking animal, no matter HOW ya slice it! I'd do a cartwheel or two if I caught that one!..LOL!

Great natural prop setting too!..
