Flexwatt Question

fhayden1 Jun 16, 2008 07:42 AM

I've got some boaphile racks with no heat. I keep boas in it and can't decide if back heat or belly heat is better. Each level is almost 3' deep. I'm located in FL and I keep my boas in a garage that get an ambient of 65-70 in the winter.

Best Regards,
Frank Hayden

I don't use heat tape very much (just a personal preference thing) but everything I've read & everyone I've talked to that does use Flexwatt says that it's much more efficient as belly heat than back heat.

Have a good one!

I personally think back or side heat would be the way to go for terrestrial caging, depending on the specie.

Because of the front venting, the boaphile cages would work great with an 11" flexwatt along the back of the cage then completely cover that on the back with a piece of reflective foam board to retain/reflect the heat into the cage.

This would give you a nice heat gradient from rear to front.
