That's the sound of the crickets chirping on this forum. It's funny how a change in the law seemed to diminish forum activity. I wonder if it diminished alterna hunting as much (somehow I doubt it).

Of course, all TPWD needed to do to cut down on alterna hunting/collecting was raise the price of gas to $4 a gallon. That's what has kept me inside, not fear of a ticket.

went to 277 4 weeks ago on a one nighter. no le. went back 2 weeks ago to the big bend area one night, juno the next, then 277 the thrid night. one state trooper asked me what i was doing when walking the cuts and just said good luck. of course he was not a warden. the hot dry condtions sent me home early.

Hopefully I'll have something good to post in 2 wks. We're making a 3 day trip. I'm more worried about gas prices in Marathon than anything. lol. Chris Drake

My son and I spent 14 days in Texas, coming home to GA on 6/13.
Only time we were stopped by (or saw) game officers was the last night in Sanderson, received a warning for being stopped on ROW without my hazard lites flashing. Received only a warning, young officer was very courteous, asked if we had an reptiles in the vehicle and we replied negative since there were none. Only saw one alterna, blairs phase in black gap on roadway at first rock cut prior to WMA. During trip we also saw 4 bullsnakes in AM; in PM, we saw 5 Trans Pecos Rat Snakes, 10 Western Diamondbacks and a single Mojave RS. Seen very few junk snakes . . . no longnose snakes AOR or DOR. 2 night snakes, a garter snake (hwy 277 by the lake), a whip snake and a patchnose snake. Did not see any live coachwhips, but saw many DOR's. 3 DOR rattlesnakes on road north out of Van Horn had their rattles cut off. Spent 3 nites down at Wildhorse Station and only seen 1 Night Snake. 100 degrees at
midnight. Stopped by no less than 5 border patrol vehicles south of Serra Blanca (a single stop), but that is another story.

I would love to see a photo of the Gap snake as well. It has been toooooo quiet on alterna reporting. I know that animals have been found. At least post photos without localities.

I have been out twice and have not been stopped by any LE. I have heard of someone we both know getting a ticket from a game warden for a traffic violation. I am sure that he will get out of it like he always does.
