Egg Bound Female (Long)

Wallbanger26 Jun 16, 2008 09:30 PM

I posted a message about an egg bound females months ago. She was/is HUGE!!! She laid 6 160g (and that was the smallest egg) eggs for me 48 days ago. Since she laid her eggs I believe she's eaten once, yesterday (I can't remember if I through a rat in there or not). She is still HUGE!!! I felt like 6 more bumps in her. So my question, to someone who has been through an egg bound girl, is what should I do? I would think that the ggs would shrivel if they went bad in her, but she has gradually gotten larger over the past 3 weeks. I would almost suggest she's going to lay another clutch, but I've never heard of that before. Any advice from a trained professional/someone who's been through this would be appreciated. She was nowhere near this big after she laid her 6 eggs. She's gotten bigger like she's gravid again recently. Please help.

Thanks

There is really nothing anyone here can do for you. The best thing would be for you to bring her to a vet and at least have an ultrasound performed to see what is going on inside her.

Maybe someone on the forum who has an ultrasound machine and lives within driving distance of you would be willing to help you out.

Other than that, the best bet in a case like this is bring her to the vet.

I wonder if its possible the eggs are actually incubating inside her? It wouldnt be impossible I suppose..but how would the babies pip, hatch out & what about the egg shells? I bet if this really is the case & you have the cash and a good reptile vet, they could open her up, deliver the eggs, clear whatever obstruction (twisted uterus, dead egg or something), and close her up with no ill effect if she is still ok today. I think once the eggs mature or die she is going to turn for the worse though. Very interesting..I hope it works out for her and you. Keep us posted.
