Bad Shedding Leads to wounds?

eddleman Sep 01, 2003 07:39 PM

I've soaked a few times added water bowls..
Now I've got a bigger issue. It's like
there are these wounds that I suppose she's
makeing on her underside from rubbing to
try to shed?

It looks like she has flesh exposed
toward the lower half of her body.

Anybody seen this? Know a good treatment?

is it possible that you are dealing with blisters from too much humidity and soaking? IF it appears as though flesh is showing, I'd get to a vet.

...sounds like something more going on here, like a pre-existing condition. For starters, you NEED to keep these wounds dry, whether this is blister disease or too much belly heat. Topical Polysporin ointment or Povidone-iodine (Betadine) for initial infection control. Exam by qualified herp vet-he'll decide whether systemic antibiotic treatment is indicated. You may need to re-evaluate your cage settup, i.e. too much belly heat?
Good luck! Scott J. Michaels DVM
