Good ambient humidity for incubation

dacherrypicker Jun 18, 2008 12:34 PM

What is a good ambient humidity for incubating leopard geckos? Is there a difference in humidity % when your going for mostly females or is that just temp? Thanks in advance and happy herping!

Gender is only affected by temperature. Ideally you want very high humidity with as little as possible direct moisture contact. I like large chunk vermiculite because there will be less surface area of the egg touching wet substrate. I dont have an exact water to vermiculite ratio or optimum %humidity but a good rule is to get it wet, ring it out weigh your container. Limit ventilation so that little water weight is evaporated during the incubation period.
