2 awesome hookups today.

shannon brown Jun 18, 2008 01:49 PM

Man, I am excited about these. Not counting my chickens yet for sure but both females were ovulating big time and never even tried to get away or fight them off.
The first is my Alloway/Terry M Mystery line animal (Mega hypo)hooked up with a het for nothing vanishing pattern amel.I will prove him out with this breeding and some other eggs I have cooking as well.
Anyway, should be a great clutch to watch hatch.

and second, here is a pair of ghosts that are both possible het amel.If a snow pops out it will for sure be a visual pearl.
Anyway, here they are.

Yeah,....that will certainly be interesting to see what happens with those pairings!

Was "Mega Hypo" the name you guys settled on if they prove out?.......it sounds distinctive, and less confusing enough from the other's to me to work just fine!..LOL!

Doug, it will be up to Terry on the name.I really like it becuase it doesn't suggest anything about the genetics etc...It really seperates it from all other lines also etc...

Very exciting Shannon! A visual Pearl would be awesome. Also, your post gives me hope that it's not too late to breed my Tang Albino Hondurans this year. They're definitely big enough, I've just been preoccupied with other things, like taking care of too many damn feeder mice. My female Tang Albino is probably five and a half feet now. I'm just not an expert on the ovulating thing. I've tried to feel for follicles, but I don't know. I guess I'll just see if she's looking chubby and try putting them together.

Anyway, sorry to get off topic. Nice hookups you got there for sure man!!

Thanks, Its never to late really.Just put them together and if they breed they breed.I never try and feel for anything I just use visual to tell when they are ovulating. When you know and see your animals everyday you can just tell. Now, this isn't to say you have to wait for a ovulation cause sometimes you just can't tell.

I'd probably go crazy counting days...

The first pair... wow. Just to imagine proving him out... not even that alone - your female bicolor is a smoker! If even only 3x hets are produced... they'd be of insane stock. Damn and if Terry's line manages to express immediately -- I dare say you'd have the potential for coolest triple hets ever! If the second pairs works out for you I'd be hard pressed to define what's cooler... having produced a 'pearl' or realizing you have two ghosts het amel! Just great pairings.... sincere best of luck to you w/ both!

Hi Shannon,

That is great good luck with the pairing!

I am excited also my triple het pair finally hooked up a few weeks ago and the female is sure gravid. I am excited with the outcome if I get fertile eggs. I have 9 clutches cooking and at least 5 more to go. This year is going to be fun to see all the interesting results from all the hook up's.

Take care
