in the light, you will find the road...
The best one I have seen off a road (not captive born) was 49.Really close to Nevada in Fish Lake Valley.

shannon,
Have you ever tried the California city area for high band cal kings? I used to pull them out of there with over 50 bands.

I have never seen high band count there? Yes,I hunt there several times a year. This is pretty typical of what is found there.I didn't find this one but my buddy did and he found 3 like this in one week.Best we could guess what it had about 43 or 44 white bands.Thats pretty good considering the width of the white.

This girl I found not far from there has 45 or 46 to the vent.

this is a gravid one I collected a couple weeks ago near there also. She only has about 35 white bands. You get the whole aray down in the Mojave Desert.

Beautiful little king there Shannon. It resembles some kings I've seen near Palmdale.
In case your interested, Coastal southern CA also has kings with very high band counts, as well as the high desert. Here's one found by Hubbs with 48 rings up until the vent. It must have rings in the upper 50's including the tail.

Thanks Ross, Yes I have seen that one Hubs found.I would like to stick with desert phase even though some coastals have high band counts.
I live in the High Desert and thats were most of these are from.
