60 AND BOY I AM PROUD OF IT

raptor1 Jun 18, 2008 05:15 PM

Went into one of my boa rooms this morning ah! That lovley odour!
My Deep yellow female pastle given me SIXTY BOAS!!!!
Dad I imported from Gray Rushin in 2006 A Beautifull motley .

So here are the stats

slugs 5, 31 normal/pastle 25 Motleys, 4 dead (3 of which were Motleys and 1 hypo.

This was not only a super litter for me but intresting.
Last year I put my Hypo to this female, I seen plenty of breeding , but not a litter. So Is it possible that she retained the sperm from the hypo?
On one of the pics, you can see - two - either 2 hypo's or 2extremeley clean pastles, they are much smaller than there siblings and full of yolk, but is it possible they are from the mating of my hypo to her last year?

Anyhow here are the pics
Thanks for looking
Alan

Thanks Jim, she is approx 6 years old. I say approx as I bought her 4 years ago and she had a good girth and was about 5 foot, she is approx 8 foot now. As for weight i have no idea, although she has just added a few more pounds, she has just sunk a couple of large rats!

Bad ass! It is possible that a female can hold sperm that only fertilized part of the next years litter but i think those 2 babies look like clean normals too me atleast. Congratufreakinlations on the monster litter!

I am not sure if this is the case here, but most Boids can retain sperm and cause more then one sire to father a litter in boas or a clutch in pythons.

Most times this happens the female has been mated with the two males that same season, but sperm can be stored and used so it is possible, but I am not sure that is what happened here as I can not decipher those morphs to an extent as to be sure that what you have as a phenotype there, if so the stored sperm would explain the phenomenon.

Incredible...an enourmous litter full of some quite good looking motleys!! Unbelievable...congratulations.!!

For sure the female retained some sperm. It happens from time to time. It happened to a female of mine that retained sperm in Dec of 06, must have gone into cycle by mid next year because she dropped a litter of slugs with one premie in feb of 08. So it does happen.
