i see that you have a banded white throat why dont you first try to rais it up first then think about getting another monitor

He didnt say he was going to get another one, nor did he imply it. He asked if there are any breeders in the UK.

Could be for a school project, or maybe he wants to talk to one?

Thank you! Well noticed!! Indeed I do not have any intensions of breeding whitethroat monitors. I am just curious if there are any breeders here in europe. Because I know there are a few breeders in the US, but I have never heard of a breeder in europe.

Well put, there is a statement made on a regular basis that Europeans are so much farther advanced when it comes to varanid care in captivity, and breeding, yet there is a common question asked worldwide constantly on forums about any available CBB monitors in Europe, and how they can not be found. I here that in Europe it is so much easier to obtain imported monitors not available here.
Those darn Americans are breeding them all over the country, but yet are suposedly so far behind in captive husbandry.

I can not tell which continent has more succes in breeding monitors. All I know is that CBB small monitors are very easy to obtain, many of the odatria group can be bought as CBB juveniles. In europe we even have a spenceri breeder.

But I think it makes sense that perhaps in the US there are more breeders of big monitors. We do not have states like Florida for example which is all warm and slightly humid all year. So big outdoor enclosures are out of the question, even in countries like spain, they do have a long winter period. Even large indoor enclosures are way to expensive to keep warm in wintertime.

A note; do not think that the law for keeping reptiles is the same in all europe, its not. Here in Holland we have very easy laws about reptiles, but in Belgium, a country next to holland, the laws about keeping reptiles is far more strict.
